FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

December 30, 2021

Golden Link presents an evening with folk singer, songwriter, and storyteller Mike Powell

Rochester, NY – Based in Cazenovia, NY, Mike Powell is a natural-born storyteller with stage presence that’s best described as “real.” His spontaneous nature and extreme comfort behind a microphone creates a vibe that engages audiences in a way that only authenticity can. Powell makes his Golden Link debut on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 7:30 pm at the Rochester Christian Reformed Church, 2750 Atlantic Avenue, Penfield. See below for Golden Link’s COVID safety protocols.

His songs are filled with powerful imagery and thought-provoking themes, but a Powell performance is much more than just a concert. It’s an exploration into the human heart, as he seamlessly weaves hilarious tales of everyday life with heartbreaking songs of tragedy, loss, and blue-collar hardship.

Powell left Syracuse University in 2004 as their most decorated lacrosse player, but declined offers to play professionally so that he could focus fully on the craft of songwriting. Pulling from his catalog of more than 200 original songs, Powell has become one of the “must see” acts in Central New York. He will be joined in this concert by his musical companion of over 15 years, multi-instrumentalist John Hanus.

“Mike Powell will move you from the first line of any song he sings and his songwriting is killer!”fellow musician Loren Barrigar

“A truly unique and inspiring American voice.”The Boston Globe

Powell has a smooth voice … and the lyrics are brimming with tales of survival, tragedy, and love. This is warm and emotional country-folk music that tugs at the heartstrings.”City Newspaper
