We Could Use Your Help!

Golden Link's mission is to promote and support Folk Music in the Rochester area.  We'd love your help in furthering that mission, and bringing more of the music we love to more of the people in our region!

We need help at smaller events like concerts, sing arounds, and community events, as well as at our exciting 3-day Turtle Hill Folk Festival, and even help with the activities of the "Sounding Board", Golden Link's board of directors. There is a lot of flexibility in times and tasks and you can pick what works for you. All kinds of skill levels are needed and we're always eager to work with new volunteers!

We have two easy ways to let us know you can help:
Button Volunteering OpportunitiesSelect among the available opportunities, then browse the specific tasks and times to select something that works for you and your schedule.  See Instructions Below for using this option.

If you're not sure what you might be able to do to help, or just want to speak to someone about potential opportunities?  Fill out this form and submit it.  It will be emailed to our Volunteer Coordinator and they will contact you.
How to use our Online Volunteering Opportunities page

It's easy to browse our volunteer opportunities and find a place and time where you can help.  When you click the Volunteering Opportunities button above, you'll be taken to a page that lets you select what you want.  You'll see one or more "Upcoming Opportunities" which are events or openings where we need help.

How to view a Detailed Task List

After clicking the Volunteering Opportunities button, click on the "view more" icon next to the event of interest to bring up a list of the tasks, times, and descriptions. (On a mobile device, click the "More Details" button.)

View More Icon

You'll see a list with all the details you need to decide where you'd like to help.  It will also list the number of people needed and how many are already assigned.

How to Volunteer

After you've decided which things you want to volunteer for, click on the green hand icon at the right side of the opportunity to volunteer yourself.  If you're signing up others, like your family members or friends, hover over the "Volunteer Others" link below it and select the kind of person you're signing up from the popup.

VolunteerYourself

Then fill in your information, answer any questions at the top, and select the tasks and times you're interested in.

VolunteerRegistration

After you've made your selections, click the Next button at the bottom of the page.  Then follow the instructions on the next page to complete your registration.

What Happens Next?

One of our volunteer coordinators will contact you to discuss your selections and see if you have any questions.  Note that we sometimes list a task as requiring more people than we actually need.  This allows us to have backups in case someone cannot make it for some reason.  Your volunteer coordinator will let you know if you are scheduled as a backup.

Checking your Volunteer Status

If you're a Golden Link Member, t's easy to find out what future events you're volunteering for, as well as your past participation.  Just log into the website, hover your mouse over your name at upper right, and select Profile from the popup.  Scroll down till you see the Histories box, and select Volunteer.  Click the little double-down-arrow widget to the left of the future or past event to see what you've signed up for.  For past events, you may need to change the "Within the last" popup to an appropriate time frame.
