Country/Folk Duo Robin & Linda Williams Bring Honest & Heartfelt Music to Golden Link on May 11

Rochester, NY – For more than four decades, Robin & Linda Williams have performed the music that they love, a robust blend of bluegrass, folk, old-time, and acoustic country that combines wryly observant lyrics with a wide-ranging melodicism. They will perform in concert for the Golden Link Folk Singing Society on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 7:30 pm at Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Road, Rochester NY 14626.

From the very beginning, they have spent their career crisscrossing the nation, playing theaters, college coffeehouses, Carnegie Hall, music clubs and festivals, the Grand Ole Opry, Radio City Music Hall, Austin City Limits, Ryman Auditorium, and Mountain Stage – their stirring concerts earning them a huge and loyal body of folk and country fans who love their honest and heartfelt music.

Robin and Linda are also gifted songwriters; the list of artists who have covered their original songs include some of the greats of country music, names like Emmylou Harris, Tom T. Hall, George Hamilton IV, Tim & Mollie O’Brien, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kathy Mattea, and The Seldom Scene.

Other career highlights include numerous appearances on the popular radio show “A Prairie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor. They also appeared in director Robert Altman’s movie of the same name, with Robin and Linda playing themselves and singing their song “Old Plank Road.” Their musical “Stonewall Country,” developed and written with Don Baker, attracted many thousands of fans and ran for 25 years at the Lime Kiln Theater in Lexington, VA.

When not on the road they come back to their old frame house built around a log cabin in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley where they have lived for more than 40 years.

“Vocally and instrumentally, the Williamses combine impeccable musical discipline with a bare simplicity and an utter lack of pretension.” –The New York Times
