Golden Link Members Showcase Concert!

Members Showcase Concert

Whenever there is a 5th Tuesday in a month, Golden Link hosts a Members Showcase Concert instead of the usual sing around.  It will be held at our new concert venue at the Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Road.

Rather than in the main sanctuary, this concert will be held in the Parlor, which is the room at the rear of the church.  There is ample parking at the rear.

$5 Donation suggested at the door, concert starts at 7:30pm.

Featured Member Performers:

Val Fowler

Fowler, DanVal Fowler has been a member of Golden Link since 1993, after moving here from Denton, Texas in 1990. He served as GL President in 1995/1996 (which included the 25th Anniversary of GL. Following Vern Lindberg's 6-year tenure as president, Val served for 6 years, which encompassed the Peter Yarrow concert, the Judy Collins concert and GL's 50th Anniversary. He served for 4 years as Artistic Director for the Turtle Hill Festival, encompassing the two COVID virtual festivals.

A "song finder," Val loves to find, learn, arrange, and perform songs, on the theory that, "If I don't find 'em and perform them, people will likely not hear them." This set will include at least three "new discoveries." Val credits Golden Link as the catalyst for everything he currently can do, playing and singing. "And I was greatly blessed that all my guitar playing friends in college and grad school were finger pickers."

Dan Lynch

Dan is an active Rochester-area songwriter, performer, teacher, and audio engineer. Growing up in a musical family, he learned to play guitar, banjo and mandolin from his grandparents and went on to study Music Recording and Ethnomusicology. In addition to recording and performing his own music for over a decade, he has also been teaching private lessons professionally for over 9 years.

He has shared the stage with national Americana acts such as Shovels & Rope, Sarah Lee Guthrie, The Low Anthem and Darlingside. When performing solo acts, Dan's mastery of guitar, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin lend to his vast knowledge of American Roots music, particularly New York State folk tunes! His original music swings indie folk, with skillful fingerpicking, ballad-like lyrics, and an ardent drive.

A sample of original music can be found on Spotify, under Mammal is a Mountain, linked here:

Bonnie has 5 CDs on the Dynamic Label and Allen, on his many instruments, has been featured on all of them. The duo performed for the opening of the Lifespan luncheon featuring Judy Collins that was held on March 28th, 2024.
