Are you worried about not being accomplished enough to perform in front of other people? Do you feel okay singing by yourself at home but not with everyone joining in at a singaround? Do you ever have trouble getting the flow of lyrics in sync with your instrument? Are you uncertain about keys, chords and capos? Wonder about strumming versus finger-picking?
Bill Thomas, a 40-year member of Golden Link, will lead these two sessions. “We’ll work together on basic vocal and instrumental skills in a supportive, caring, small-group environment,” he said. “The goal is to get you singing and playing, whether alone or with others, with greater ease and confidence.”
After these workshops, you’ll want to attend the next singaround to try it out!
Drawn into “the great folk scare” by the Kingston Trio, Bill was hooked by Pete Seeger and eventually developed a love especially for the Child ballads, sea chanteys and old cowboy songs. An accident ended his banjo and autoharp playing and restricted his guitar work, but he later moved on to mountain dulcimer. Be sure to reserve a place by registering for this event by midnight Sunday, Oct 31. Registrations are very limited so register early! Questions may be directed to our Education Coordinator.
