About this event
Members Showcase Concert
Whenever there is a 5th Tuesday in a month, Golden Link hosts a Members Showcase Concert instead of the usual sing around. It will be held at our new concert venue at the Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Road.
Rather than in the main sanctuary, this concert will be held in the Parlor, which is the room at the rear of the church. There is ample parking at the rear.
$5 Donation suggested at the door, concert starts at 7:30pm.
Featured Member Performers:
Paul Phillips
New to Rochester, Paul moved here from Florida and previously lived near Boston, where he was a teacher and union president. He took up guitar in college in VT, and now has 6 guitars, 3 keyboards, and a voracious interest in music.
He’s written songs for decades, but would not call himself prolific. In Florida he was a foot soldier in the Punta Gorda Guitar Army. He’s played for events, for organizations, weddings, and music festivals; and now he’s thrilled to play for Golden Link.
Grant Cos
Grant Cos is a 15-year member of Golden LInk. He plays blues and folky songs of the 1960's and 1970's that you haven't heard lately.
Joe Lamay & Sherri Reese, With Laurie Leenhouts and John Stevens
Joe LaMay & Sherri Reese met at a Golden Link Singaround in 1998. They were drawn to each other’s music and soon began performing together. It wasn’t long before they gained a reputation for their original songs and old-style harmony, as well as their stage presentation of their favorite traditional and contemporary songs.
It has been said that Joe & Sherri “know a good song and write a good song.” As songwriters, they have had several of their original songs recorded and performed by other folk musicians and bluegrass bands.
LaMay & Reese’s performances are warm, entertaining and enjoyable. They present an eclectic collection of traditional and original songs that are sure to inspire the novice and please the traditionalist.
Since 2004, LaMay & Reese have been contributing monthly music segments to Bill Knowlton’s Bluegrass Ramble Radio Show. Their twenty-minute segments feature songs and musicians recorded “live” by musicians they meet along the way. The Bluegrass Ramble is aired on NPR throughout the northeast and on the worldwide web.
LaMay & Reese have released nine CDS of their music including a collection of their original songs recorded by various folk and bluegrass miusicians.
In support of their local music community in the Rochester area, Joe & Sherri host 77 West Main, a new music venue in Macedon, which presents an acoustic music concert series, a songwriters gathering, and more.
