Golden Link Members Showcase Concert!

About this event

Members Showcase Concert

Whenever there is a 5th Tuesday in a month, Golden Link hosts a Members Showcase Concert instead of the usual sing around.  It will be held at our new concert venue at the Greece Baptist Church, 1230 Long Pond Road.

Rather than in the main sanctuary, this concert will be held in the Parlor, which is the room at the rear of the church.  There is ample parking at the rear.

$5 Donation suggested at the door, concert starts at 7:30pm.

Lee StrongLee Strong

I discovered folk music through Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Arlo Guthrie and Simon and Garfunkel. I was especially inspired by Seeger's joyful performing, social concern, and sense of humor.

I performed sporadically in coffee houses and at festivals in the 1970's and 1980's. In addition, two friends requested that I provide music for their garden wedding. They wanted all Dylan tunes. And I was even part of the community choir for a Peter, Paul and Mary holiday concert at Eastman Theater in the late 1980's. But by the 1990's I had shifted my focus to being a children's performer and acting with local theater groups. I blended the two to become a professional Santa, something I continue to do. My only regular singing and playing since the 1990's has been church related.

But being involved with Golden Link and seeing friends perform has inspired me to return to the stage to play folk music again.

Pat Pauly Pat Pauly

It’s been ten years since Pat Pauly walked into a Golden Link Singaround, recalled her self-taught guitar skills (dormant for 40 years), and found the courage to sing in public. Since then, she’s, well, gotten better. Because surrounded by only encouragement, a treasure trove of great songs to steal, and overflowing talent to learn from, she has every reason to improve. In the spirit of giving back, she has been involved in Golden Link in many capacities, but the one she enjoys most is being a fan of those around her. Mainly because they continue to let her know she’s worth her effort. Her debut in the members’ showcase will prove if she’s up to the task, and for help she’ll bring along her friend Ken Poole for a few songs. It should work out, and she knows that regardless of the outcome, Golden Linkers will applaud. For which she is grateful.

Laurie Hunt and Laurence Sugarman

Laurie Hunt and Laurence Sugarman have been folk musicians for a long time. Laurie started playing the hammered dulcimer while a dancer with Mitzie Collins’ Wakefield Dancers, then played bass with The Flower City Dulcimer Club. She has performed on bass and vocals with a variety of bands, most recently with the Rochester Mandolin Orchestra and the New Horizon Orchestras. Laurence has been playing and performing on the banjo and fiddle for over sixty years. No one knows why. Sing Out magazine called him a “gifted banjo-player … with a rhythmic swagger.” His most recent (2025) release, This is How I Go – living ballads, was co-produced with Ithaca singer-songwriter, Joe Crookston. His recordings – spanning more than six hours over 47 years – are available at laurenceirwinsugarman.bandcamp.com. Laurie and Laurence love making beautiful music together and look forward to sharing it with you.
