Honey DeLapa
Honey DeLapa has been a songstress all of her life. She began her professional musical career in the early 1971 as half of the singing sister duo, Melissa and Honey. Their special blend of harmony during performances of folk, pop and contemporary music, brought them notoriety as the first “female only” group in the area.
In 1990 Melissa and Honey began to collaborate with the B.A.N.D.I.T.S, in Allegheny County, to use music as a resource in the fight to stop a planned Nuclear Dump Site. A copy of their first recording was accepted into the permanent collection of “Protest Music Born of Struggles of the People” at the Smithsonian Institution” in Washington D.C.
Honey joined Golden Link in 1987 and became a regular volunteer serving in a variety of positions over the years. In those early years, she participated in Member Showcases, Potpourri Jams, Turtle Hill Workshops and other events. Being surrounded by friends who share the love of folk music, and the willingness to share their talents, has made Golden Link a very important part of her life. She also has performed with the Greece Choral Society since 1991.
Currently, after learning more guitar, Honey once again is participating during singarounds and other events. She is pleased to be able to perform some of her favorite songs at the upcoming Member’s Showcase.
