Singing Workshop - A Golden Link Workshop
About this event
Tuesday, April 8th 6:30 - 8:00 PM
Mennonite Fellowship Hall, 111 Hillside Ave., Rochester
Singing Workshop
Colleen Liggett will offer a brief overview of vocal technique, drawing on her decades of working with adult students on their singing. Participants will sing together to experience the concepts being explained. She will discuss posture, benefits of practicing systematically, different vocal ranges and how they blend together (or not), and how to incorporate vocal technique into songs. If time allows, she may call for volunteers to sing and work on a phrase of their song.
Colleen Liggett has taught singing for almost 50 years, primarily to adult students. Her goal is to encourage healthy singing on any kind of music. After earning degrees from Eastman School of Music and Rutgers University, she had additional courses in vocal technique, choral conducting, and early music. She taught for many years at the Hochstein Music School, performed concerts of early music and folk music, sang professionally in church, and taught privately through all that time. She still teaches a small number of students in Rochester and Springwater.
Register (online only) by Sunday, April 6th at midnight.
