“DobroSinger” Abbie Gardner returns to Golden Link

You might recognize Abbie Gardner from the female harmony trio Red Molly, who have performed before for Golden Link. That’s where she has honed her skills since 2004 – writing songs, singing, and playing the lap-style resonator guitar often referred to as a dobro.

Her latest album is called DobroSinger – which she describes as being similar to a singer/songwriter, but with more emphasis on the dobro as a lead instrument. Ron Olesko of Folk Music Notebook says, “DobroSinger is a masterclass in how to deliver a song, taught by an artist who is at the top of her game.”

Abbie’s music is gritty and bluesy, with a bit of western swing and honky tonk. She has songs about love and longing, sibling relationships, independent women, and even an answer song to Dolly Parton’s “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind” (entitled “Only All the Time”).

Abbie returns on Friday, November 15 at 7:30 pm at Greece Baptist Church. Joining her is a special guest – Ryan David Green of the Arizona acoustic duo Ryanhood. Known for virtuoso acoustic guitar playing and delicate vocal tunes, Ryan will play a few songs on his own during her set and join her for some songs as well.
