Here in Rochester, we are lucky to have many talented local musicians. For this special “New Voices” Showcase, we will be featuring three local musicians and songwriters who have not performed before at Golden Link.
The first “New Voices” Showcases at the 2015 and 2016 Turtle Hill Folk Festivals introduced us to The Brothers Blue, Tough Old Bird, and Pepper & Sassafras, among others. Join us for a chance to hear these rising talents, new to Golden Link!
Kara Fink
Kara Fink is a singer/songwriter based in Rochester. With training in classical, jazz, and contemporary guitar and voice, Kara creates music that can be difficult to categorize into a single genre. The soulful twang of her voice over colorfully complex chords give her a unique “eclectic-folk” sound. Her music has often been compared to that of Joni Mitchell, Norah Jones, and even Jason Robert Brown.

Marye Lobb
The joy of discovery and the pain of loss, hanging on and letting go, wandering abroad and going home – these are just some of the themes that Marye Lobb explores with piercing honesty and a beautiful, soaring voice that invites you to make her journey yours, too. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, she realized music was her calling after studying abroad and working with local musicians in the south of Chile. Her music incorporates elements of folk, new age, Latin, and jazz and she counts as her biggest influences Ella Fitzgerald, Regina Spektor, and Astor Piazzolla.

Hanna PK
Hanna PK is a solid pianist, soulful vocalist, and vibrant performer, born and raised in South Korea, currently residing in Rochester. She plays a wide variety of the blues and swing, old school folk, and boogie-woogie. She has a dynamic songwriting style – ranging from a funky tune with socially conscious lyrics to a mournful slow blues, from a pop-edged ballad to an uplifting swinging number, and from barrelhouse boogie to jazz. Her seemingly sweet and soft-spoken appearance often leads to surprise when hearing her rich, resonating voice that goes from a whisper to belting with intensity. What draws the audience closer to her heartfelt, honest music are her genuine passion and the originality that comes from within.
